people have been posting "encouraging" stories from their witness mailing lists lately.
i thought i'd share one i encountered, too.
many years ago, a new family moved into our neighborhood, little six-year-old emma and her mom and dad.
Love this take-off on all these saccharine, syrupy-type stories. Thanks for the laugh tonight!

Yah, I want to barf everytime I hear someone say something like "Je-HEEEE-sus spoke to me and answered my pah-RAH-ers, and told me blah, blah, blah." (Ya know, the Jimmy Swagart, fake humility, trying to pull off ultra-pure, Christiany voice.) One of my brothers is like that and it drives me nuts. He thinks the "Leh-ORD" talks to him. Ofcourse he always used to beat his kids, has been married 3 times, flies into raving rages because of the littlest things, etc. But he's a "good" Christian, and in the "Leh-ORD". Oh, also, he wants to save me. Pbbtt, oh, puh-lease.
No offense meant to anybody out there who loves Je-HEEEE-sus.
it really pigs me off now when i think back to what i was told to get rid of when i was studying.my collection of stephen king books, my new madonna like a prayer record that i loved, my alice cooper and guns and roses album.
i was even told not to listen to classical music because some of the composers led such debauched lives!also any film with an 18 certificate was a nono in case others were stumbled - even though i have seen other jws reading stephen king books and watching 18 cert films and my husband had the complete madonna collection!and of course depeche modes 'personal jesus' song which i loved.
and my lost boys album and video cos it was about vampires.i was just wondering what sort of things were you told you should get rid of and why?
I had every single Iron Maiden album
During my indoctrination, I went out to the dumpster one day and threw out about 60 CDs and probably twice as many more tapes. LIke you, I also had all of the Maiden ones. Those hurt the worst to throw away. I also had every Judas Priest album I could get my hands on. I was told not to give them away to "worldy people" or to sell them since they were "bad" and I would be bringing harm to others if I didn't destroy them. The same day I also threw out about $600 dollars worth of Dungeons and Dragons and other role playing game system stuff. I had been a Game Master at conventions and I really enjoyed those games. I can't ever replace those things. I had all four of the original boxed sets of Basic D&D, and the complete sets 1st ed AD&D, and 2nd ed AD&D. It would have been something that my son would have liked to have, but nooooo, it's all gone.
i'll admit that for as far back as i can remember, i've picked up little crushes on celebrities.
i think one of my first crushes was on olivia newton-john after seeing her in grease at 5 years old and later in xanadu.. i've had crushes on:.
jennifer connelly (labrynth)gwyneth paltrow (hook briefly and later emma)cate blanchett (elizabeth, pushing tin)meredith salenger (the journey of natty gann, but especially, especially, in dream a little dream)kate beckingsale (much ado about nothing, cold comfort farm (not underworld, though she's smokin' in that.
No more than I can compete with Sandra Bullock or a robot woman that goes beedee... You know I love you!
Sigh...no, no, no, sweetie. You never watched the show I see. The robot Tweeky said beedee beedee, not the woman. Wilma Derring just wore a really tight jumpsuit. And glossy lipstick. And sometimes when Wilma and Buck were on missions she would wear slinky dresses that didn't cover much. Which reminds me of the evil princess on the show. What was her name? Hmmm, yummy.

Oops, I got caught.
Good thing I didn't mention anything about Sandra Bullock.
i know that i'm new here...and maybe this topic has already been covered.
i keep reading posts from members that make referrence to going to a meeting or going out in service..... holy crap?!?!?
what percentage of the people here still actually consider themselves as witnesses?????
What "screws my mind" is how a person without the prerequisite penis can handle something as phallic as a microphone.... not to mention, can read the WT to the members who actually have external sex organs... How ever do you guys function in the UK???
Now I'm really confused!
Hi Gordon,
Yah, you got to watch yourself to not pay to much attention to the avatars, gender symbols, ages, and locations that appear for the poster. Keep in mind that all of those things are voluntarily picked and can be changed at any time. I know I have alomost gotten into a few problems with replies on threads because I assumed some info about a poster because of the info given. I mean I could say in my profile setup that I'm female, 150 years old, from Tanzania, and have an avatar of Wonder Woman, but that doesn't mean it's true.
BTW, good thread topic.

Hey Jim,
Just wondering if you could give me a very rough guesstimate of a percentage difference of heat output between CFL and LED vs. standard bulbs? I'm not sure if I'm asking that right, so I'll try for an example:
Lady Lee said: Generate 70 percent less heat, so they're safer to operate and can cut energy costs associated with home cooling.
So if that figure is correct, and a CF generates 70% less heat than a conventional bulb (personally I think that percentage is higher given the one that we have, it runs very cool), would an LED generate something like 60% less heat? Or are they closer in heat output to a regular bulb?
Thanks
LDB
